We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to join the team as a Careers and Employment Transitions Officer at our Pupil Referral Unit (PRU). In this role, you will play a pivotal part in guiding and supporting young people through their educational journey, preparing them for successful transitions into further education, employment, or training.

Responsibilities:

  • Coaching and Support: Provide individualised coaching and support to young people, focusing on their personal and career development.

  • College Applications: Assist students in the college application process, offering guidance on course selection, application requirements, and deadlines.

  • University Trips: Plan and organise university trips to expose students to higher education options, fostering aspirations and motivation.

  • Careers Action Planning: Collaborate with students to create personalised careers action plans, identifying goals and mapping out steps towards achievement.

  • Motivational Activities: Develop and implement motivational activities and workshops to inspire and engage students in their educational and career pursuits.

  • Behaviour Management Skills: Utilise effective behaviour management skills to create a positive and supportive environment conducive to learning and growth.

  • Amicable Approach: Demonstrate an approachable and amicable demeanour to build trust and rapport with students, fostering a supportive relationship.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in careers guidance, coaching, or a related field.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to work effectively with young people facing challenges.
  • A clean driving license and the ability to travel as required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of college application processes and higher education options.
  • Commitment to promoting equal opportunities and inclusion.
